A Surprising Treat

I mentioned May’s stamp club projects in my last post (sorry it was so long ago).  We made Pull Treats!  They are so much fun!  They’re easy to make & boy, do they bring a smile to the holder’s face!

You basically make an open-ended pouch, then punch a hole through the top.  Thread a ribbon through the hole.  Place the candy bar inside the pouch and push it down slowly.  The ribbon will be pushed down with it.  I found the tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers.

I love that chipboard star!  To trim the paper nice & close, first apply Tombo Multi Purpose Adhesive all over the top of the chipboard piece.  Then, lay it face down on the back (wrong) side of your Designer Series Paper.  Smooth the paper over the chipboard.  Then place on a cutting mat & trim the paper away with a hobby blade.

April 08 Totally Hands On Samples

April 25, 2008 at 5:16 pm | Posted in Accessories- Rub-Ons, Projects, Scrapbooking, Stamp Set- Enjoy Every Moment, Stamp Set- Nursery Necessities, Stamp Sets, Stampin' Up!, Technique- Dry Embossing, Technique- Watercoloring, Techniques, Techniques- Glitter | Leave a comment

These are the projects that I’m teaching for my April workshops!

This fun little card uses the Nursery Neccessities stamp set.  Its a baby set, but for this card I’ve made it more generic.  I think you could send this card for any happy occassion.

To start the focal point, I punched the Large Star Punch through Brocade Blue card stock.

Then I created a dry embossing template with the (small) Star Punch.  To do this, I simply punched through a piece of thin chipboard.  Then, using the an embossing stylus, I raised the smaller star centered inside the larger one.

Next, to define the raised section, I sponged Brocade Blue ink, keeping the embossing template in place as a guide.  Then I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter with a 2-Way Glue Pen.

I placed the star on an Always Artichoke scallop with a Dimensional, then punched a hole through the scallop and threaded the grosgrain ribbon through.

To finish it off, I stamped the small star from the stamp set with Bashful Blue Classic Ink onto the same color card base and stamped the saying with Always Artichoke.  Then I dry embossed the small star overlapping the stamped images.

I stamped the big pretty flower from the Doodle This stamp set twice on Glossy White card stock.  On one of them, I added color using a Lavender Lace Classic Pad and an Aqua Painter.  Then I cut out both flowers using our wonderful Paper Snips.  They are my favorite scissors!

I again used the 2-Way Glue Pen & Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to highlight parts of the flower.

A dimensional pops the flower up away from the page.

The saying is from the Eastern Elegance Rub-Ons.  I think it would have looked better if I had used the black one.

But I LOVE the swirly doodles in this set!!

For the 3D item this month, I made a gift enclosure.  It holds a Jamba Juice gift card, but you could also put other things inside like a tea or Kool-Aid packet, or orange flavored lollipops.

I love the Tart & Tangy stamp set in the Occassions Mini Catalog!  It is SO cute!  And its so convenient that the images fit perfectly in the circle punches.

The stamp set also works so well with the Enjoy Every Moment set, that I used on the inside and with its jumbo wheel, Daisy Dash.  I like how the flowers on the wheel look with the Scallop Circle punch and the punched scallop edge on the flap.

(Enjoy Every Moment & the Daisy Dash jumbo wheel are part of this month’s promo.)

January Stamp Club- Polished Stone

January 29, 2008 at 4:40 pm | Posted in Projects, Stamp Set- Baroque Motifs, Stamp Set- Enjoy Every Moment, Stamp Sets, Stampin' Up!, Technique- Heat Embossing, Technique- Polished Stone, Techniques | 1 Comment

I had a few requests from my club members to learn the Polished Stone technique.  It is a good one!  This is what we made:

Stamps:  Enjoy Every Moment, Baroque Motifs

To create the Polished Stone look, you need 2 Classic Ink Refills, a Metallic Ink Refill, Glossy White Cardstock, cotton balls, rubbing alcohol, clothes pins & clear acrylic sealant.

Polished Stone Directions:

    1. Hold cotton ball with clothes pin.  Dip cotton ball into rubbing alcohol.
    2. Put 1-2 drops of each Classic Ink Refill onto cotton ball.  Rub 1 drop of Metallic Ink Refill onto cotton ball.
    3. On a protected surface, dab your Glossy White cardstock all over with the cotton ball.  Let sit a few minutes to let rubbing alcohol dry.
    4. Spray with clear acrylic sealant to seal in metallic ink.

If you are interested in attending a Polished Stone class to receive hands-on instruction, let me know.

Here are the Make & Take projects that guests at my January workshops will be making.

Actually, workshops through Feb 13th will be making these same projects.  Starting on Feb 15th (through Mar 31st), we’ll be making projects using Sale-A-Bration stamp sets!   Incorrect!  Actually, Sale-A-Bration starts Feb 1st!  It will last until March 17th!

This photo’s color is a little off because I’m running out of ink in my printer.  So I placed it on the page with Dotto (temporary adhesive) and I’ll replace it with a better photo when I get new ink.

This set is also brand-new to this catalog.  I also got it free!  🙂   Shelli Gardner (Stampin’ Up!’s co-founder & CEO) sent it to all demonstrators just before Thanksgiving to show her gratitude to us!  Hooray for Shelli!  And you can get this set for free, too, because it is a Hostess set!  It will only be available for the duration of this catalog.
