stamping a pretty table

I was speaking with a friend two days ago and she wanted me to post pictures of my place settings from Thanksgiving.  So, sorry I’m late, but here they are.  I used the Fall Whimsy stamp set for my theme.  I didn’t get to do as much as I had wanted.  Two of my sisters helped me plan and design everything, and had planned on helping me create them, but ended up couldn’t very much that week.

I made little charms out of Polyshrink.  (sorry, we don’t sell it anymore- you’ll have to find it somewhere else)  First I stamped the image with craft ink, then punched it out with a large circle punch and punched a little hole for the wire.  (For the wine glass charms, at this point I turned the charm over and stamped the first initial for each guest in gold ink on the back with the Classic Alphabet.)  Then, I put the charms in my toaster oven on about 350 degrees for about 8 mins (I think?).  Just watch the polyshrink as it heats up.  It first curls dramatically.  It will shrink it about 30% of the original size.  Then it uncurls and lies flat when it is finished shrinking.  You can also use a heat tool to shrink, but it is easier for me in my toaster oven.  After they cooled, I colored the edges of the charms with the Zig Painty pen.  I put fall-toned beads on brass Wire Works and added the stamped charms.

At the last minute, I made place cards with our beautiful Really Rust cardstock.  I typed each name in a Word document and used the Stampin’ Up! font CD.

While I was making my apple pies, I remembered those cookies Esther & I had stamped.  So I thought, “Why not stamp on pies, too?”  I used the same Fall Whimsy set.  I pressed deeply (but not so deep that it cuts through) into the pie crust before laying it on the pie before baking.

It was a very nice dinner.

More Petal Prints

Today I made these library pocket cards for some ladies at my church.  I love Petal Prints!  And I LOVE the Watercolor Wonder Crayons.  I spritzed the stamp with a water bottle, then colored right on the stamp with the crayons.  Then, just stamp right on your project.  I know, I used this technique the last time I posted something from this stamp set.  But they work so well together.

I used the splatter stamp from Itty Bitty Backgrounds to add to the watercolor look.

Announcing New Semiannual Catalog!

Stampin’ Up! has just announced that beginning in July 2007, a new catalog will be offered TWICE a year! New products more often, I’m so excited!

Although some sets will retire with each catalog, there will be non-retired, non-catalog sets available for ordering throughout the year. You will be able to view these sets online.

Other changes include:

  • Mini catalogs will be offered twice a year
  • Sell-A-Bration may be held at different times of the year; not necessarily in January & February. I will post more information regarding this as it is released.
  • Each Semiannual Catalog will be 208 pages featuring sets that are in-season.

Here is a schedule of the upcoming year’s catalogs; the Semiannual Catalogs are Real Red, the Mini Catalogs are Ballet Blue.

Time Period

Catalog
July, 2007- December, 2007 Fall/ Winter 2007 Collection
September, 2007- October, 2007 Holiday 2007 Mini Collection
January, 2008- June, 2008 Spring/ Summer 2008 Collection
March, 2008- May, 2008 Occasions 2008 Mini Collection

Why is this change a good thing?

  • New products, more often!

I’m always hearing from customers looking forward to the next Mini Catalog and new Idea Book & Catalog. We just love to see new stampin’ stuff!

  • En Vogue

Like fashion, the current styles and trends in the industry are constantly changing- for both stamps and accessories. Stampin’ Up! introduced In Color products last July and they are continuing to adapt with seasonal Collections! The In Colors will remain an annual product with new colors introduced each July.

  • Two catalogs mean twice as many samples!

The new Semiannual Catalogs will only be 48 pages smaller than the current Idea Book & Catalog! There will be hundreds more samples each year to spark your creativity!

  • New hostess sets twice a year!

Twice as many free sets to choose from is very exciting!

  • Collection Preview brochure

One month before the Semiannual Catalog debuts, you will be able to preview select upcoming sets in the Collection Preview brochure! This 12-page publication will be available in June and December. Included with the sneak peek of new stamps and accessories: extra tips and techniques to create the projects shown in the samples!

I will continue to post updates as more information is released.

I’m very excited to share this with you and I’m happy to be part of a company that continues to adapt in a competitive market! As a Stampin’ Up! customer, you already receive personal customer service and high-quality products. Now, you also have the benefit of more timely and seasonal merchandise available more often!

If you have any questions, please share them with me!  I’ll find the answers and get back to you.
