January Stamp Club- Polished Stone

January 29, 2008 at 4:40 pm | Posted in Projects, Stamp Set- Baroque Motifs, Stamp Set- Enjoy Every Moment, Stamp Sets, Stampin' Up!, Technique- Heat Embossing, Technique- Polished Stone, Techniques | 1 Comment

I had a few requests from my club members to learn the Polished Stone technique.  It is a good one!  This is what we made:

Stamps:  Enjoy Every Moment, Baroque Motifs

To create the Polished Stone look, you need 2 Classic Ink Refills, a Metallic Ink Refill, Glossy White Cardstock, cotton balls, rubbing alcohol, clothes pins & clear acrylic sealant.

Polished Stone Directions:

    1. Hold cotton ball with clothes pin.  Dip cotton ball into rubbing alcohol.
    2. Put 1-2 drops of each Classic Ink Refill onto cotton ball.  Rub 1 drop of Metallic Ink Refill onto cotton ball.
    3. On a protected surface, dab your Glossy White cardstock all over with the cotton ball.  Let sit a few minutes to let rubbing alcohol dry.
    4. Spray with clear acrylic sealant to seal in metallic ink.

If you are interested in attending a Polished Stone class to receive hands-on instruction, let me know.

I love Rub-Ons

January 22, 2008 at 3:19 pm | Posted in Accessories- Rub-Ons, Events, New Products, Projects, Stamp Set- Baroque Motifs, Stamp Sets, Stampin' Up! | Leave a comment

We had a great time at my Mystery Hostess party last Friday.  Here are two of the raffle prizes.  They were both made with the Eastern Elegance Rub-Ons.  Rub-Ons are a new product in the Stampin’ Up! catalog.  I’ve never used them before & I was surprised at how easy these are to use!  And they turn out so nicely.  I love how well they complement the stamp sets & designer papers.

*For those who want to try Rub-Ons, make sure that you attend one of my Sale-A-Bration workshops (Feb 1st- Mar 15th)!

Stamp Set:  Baroque Motifs

Ink:  Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip

Paper:  Whisper White Cardstock

Accessories:  Eastern Elegance Rub-Ons, Stampin Sponge, Tag Corner Punch, Rectangle Hand-held Punch, White 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon

I got this cute jar at Ikea.  It was in a 2 pack for less than $3!  I can always find lots of cute stuff to stamp on & decorate at Ikea!

Paper:  Le Jardin Designer Series Paper

Ink: Zig-Painty Pen (for the gold trim on the lid)

Accessories: Eastern Elegance Rub-Ons

This little jar was a jam container.  I just soaked it in warm water & the paper wrapper came off easily.  Then I filled it with lots of long ribbon scraps!

Emergency Birthday Card Kit

January 17, 2008 at 2:12 pm | Posted in Accessories- Markers, Events, Projects, Stamp Set- Eat Cake, Stamp Sets, Stampin' Up! | 1 Comment

Hooray!  I finally finished making my

Emergency Birthday Card Kit!!

It is soooo cute!  I used the Cutie Pie Designer Series Papers and the Eat Cake stamp set to make 8 different long cards & matching envelopes.  Then I made a really simple little pouch to hold it all in!

So, now you’ll want to make a kit yourself, don’t you?  Well, lucky you, I am holding a class next Friday@ 7pm!  I’ll have everything pre-cut for you.  You’ll also receive color photos of each of the cards, with the dimensions of all the pieces you’re using, so they will be super easy to assemble and you’ll be able to re-create more of them in a snap at home after the class! Cost is $20 ($18 for stamp club members).  Contact me by Wed Jan 23!
*Only 2 spots left!

Good for Shelli!

She’s our (very popular!) Co-Founder & CEO and today she gave 85 National Guard members a seven-day cruise for themselves & a guest to Bermuda!

My Mistake

January 14, 2008 at 8:53 am | Posted in New Products, Specials, Stampin' Up! | Leave a comment

I had it in my little head that Sale-A-Bration would start on Feb 15th and last 6 weeks through the end of March.   But I just realized that I was wrong!  Sale-A-Bration starts February 1st and lasts a little over six weeks until March 17th (St. Patricks Day).

So book your Sale-A-Bration workshops ASAP because time is running out!

Here are the Make & Take projects that guests at my January workshops will be making.

Actually, workshops through Feb 13th will be making these same projects.  Starting on Feb 15th (through Mar 31st), we’ll be making projects using Sale-A-Bration stamp sets!   Incorrect!  Actually, Sale-A-Bration starts Feb 1st!  It will last until March 17th!

This card was inspired by some ideas on Splitcoast.  It is from a set brand-new to this catalog!  I earned it free as an incentive Stampin’ Up! offered to demonstrators last fall.  Love being a demonstrator! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! has improved our Demonstrator Business Websites & I like the new look.  It has taken a while to get it just the way they want it, taking into consideration all the suggestions from us demonstrators.  And it is finally up and running today.

Check out my new business site at Ruth.StampinUp.net.   Let me know how you like it.

Mystery Hostess Make & Takes

January 7, 2008 at 6:46 pm | Posted in Events, New Products, Projects, Stamp Set- Time Well Spent, Stamp Sets, Stampin' Up!, Technique- Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Technique- Watercoloring, Techniques | 2 Comments

I’m still bummed that I couldn’t have my New Catalog party last Friday.  But now I’ll be able to make some of the raffle prizes even better.  🙂   There’s a package of brand new Rub-Ons on their way to my house right now!  And I know just what I’m going to do with them first.  hee hee

I hope you’ll be able to make it on the 18th.  I want to show you what we’ll be doing for the Make & Take.

It’s a matching 3×3 card and a snack-size Hershey bar.  I used a brand new hostess set called “Time Well Spent”.  It is a great set for making notes and cute goodies for friends.

I’ll be doing a quick watercoloring demonstration at the party for those who’d like to see it.

Rain, Rain, Go Away! -OR- Mystery Hostess Party Postponed!

January 4, 2008 at 2:32 pm | Posted in Events, Stampin' Up! | Leave a comment

Actually, the rain is beautiful & refreshing to me.  There is just too much of it!

My street is flooded, covering the sidewalks.  There are very few safe places to park cars, and those, I’m sure, will quickly be taken by neighbors coming home from work.

So, I must admit defeat to this storm and postpone our party this evening.  😦

New Catalog Mystery Hostess Party rescheduled for:

Friday, January 18th @ 7pm

I’m sure not everyone will see this in time.  I will be sending out emails to everyone on my contact list, as well.

I will still be here this evening if anyone misses this notice, or is simply adventurous enough to brave the storm.  I have a couple adorable little projects to make & boxes of beautiful, shiny new catalogs begging to be looked at.  But, for the rest of you, these will wait a couple of weeks until the 18th.

For those who just can’t wait to see the new catalog, you can view it online by clicking here.  Not as good as the tangible one, but the next best thing.

 Stay safe!
