By the way, the header of this site is an image made from Soot Stamping.  I taught this technique at my Hostess Appreciation night Friday, September 15th.  We made these two cards:

The tree card is soot stamping.  To do this, you use a brayer to cover Glossy Cardstock with ink (optional), then quickly move the cardstock over a flame to cover it with soot.  Press a clean stamp into the soot.  It will remove some of it, showing the paper beneath.  Last, you MUST seal with a clear acrylic sealant. Here are some other images using this technique:

I also taught Heated Pearls (the dragonfly card).  You use a Stipple Brush to apply elmer’s glue to your glossy cardstock, then add flecks of Pearl Ex powder to it and move around with brush.  Next, heat with your Heat Tool until it stops bubbling.  To color in the wings, mix Pearl Ex with Lumiere and a little water.  Apply with the Small Watercolor Brush.  Use this mixture to create art like this (the technique is called Luminous Pearls):

The Luminous Pearls ends up with a very pretty, shimmery image (the scan doesn’t quite do it justice).

Now, don’t you want to attend next year’s Hostess Appreciation party?! I always show my hostesses some special technique- things too complex to teach at normal workshops.  All you have to do to get an invite is host a workshop sometime before next June.  Call me quick and get on my calendar!  🙂
