I’ve posted these photos on here before, so you may recognize them.
At the class, you’ll make a set of four coasters. I’ll have my favorite stamps for coasters out for you to choose from.

Stamped Candles

We’ll be making two candles at the class.
This one is made with the Baroque Motifs stamp set and class attendees will make the coordinating belly band to go around the candle.
The second is made with the Lovely as a Tree stamp set. I tried so hard to get a picture of the way the image sparkles on the candle, but I just couldn’t do it justice. You’ll just have to trust me. Its very pretty.

Teacher Gift

But here’s something I made last week. My little Esther is loving Kindergarten & I really appreciate her teacher for making it fun and keeping my girl’s interest in learning alive. So this is for her!
The gift was a coordinating set including a notepad & pen, candybar, gift bag & card. (Yeah, this is pretty much my “go to” gift when I don’t know what to give someone. But everyone seems to love them, so that’s okay.) It ends up, my daughter’s teacher is a scrapbooker. (I knew she was cool! lol) She loved the gift set.

Decor Elements Vase

So, I’m catching up on some things still. Those of you who came to my New Catalog Mystery Hostess party have already seen this vase. In fact, you watched me decorate it.
I had only applied one of our Decor Elements once before, at Convention. I hadn’t read the instructions in a couple weeks. I had a mental note to review them before the party, but it slipped my mind. So, at the party I just hoped I wouldn’t blow it. But my worries were unneccessary. The vinyl went on so easily! Decor Elements are just so nice to work with!
(Yes, the vase is from Ikea. Hey, when I need something to decorate, that’s the first place I go!)
Stationery Box Class

Just look at what I made with them! It is a stationery box that holds 4 full-size cards (w/ envelopes), 4 3×3 cards (w/ envelopes), 4 tags, a notebook to keep track of birthdays, or who’ve you sent cards to, and a pocket to hold postage stamps. Isn’t it beautiful?
You can make this very same stationery box at my class on Saturday, September 27th @ 2PM. For only $20! you will make everything pictured here. You will receive the templates with instructions at the class. Then it will be easy to make more boxes at home. Wouldn’t these make terrific gifts? (RSVP & Prepay by Weds 9/17.)
Class participants will need to bring: a paper cutter w/ a scoring blade, Sticky Strip, Snail Adhesive, and Paper Snips (or other scissors). If you need to order these items, please let me know by 9/17 and I will have them waiting for you at the class. Thank you!

Mini Backpack

I just took my oldest to her 1st day of school! It was a big deal for the whole family. After she went to bed last night, I made her a little gift: a mini backpack made of card stock & Designer Series Paper. I gave it to her this morning and she loved it!
Mary Arima came up with the orginal idea. Isn’t she smart! I got my template from dfaust (that’s her SCS name, I don’t know her real name, lol). Click here to view the template. She altered the orginal a little & included the measurements. She also made the entire backpack template fit on one 12×12 sheet of card stock. Then you just add the small amounts of Designer Series Paper to embellish it. I got the idea to use clear embossing to create a vinyl look from Susie Nelson’s backpack.
If you have a child in school, you could make one to celebrate the end of the first week (or first month, or first report card, or whatever!). This would also make a really cute teacher gift! Click on any of the photos to enlarge.
Punch holes in the back panel and tie the ribbon through for straps before assembling the box!
I love this little ribbon slider charm from the Hodgepodge Hardware kit! I tied a knot in the ribbon, then inserted both ends into the ribbon slider. After assembling the backpack, I punched two holes in the flap to push the ribbon through. Then I used Sticky Strip on the inside to secure the ribbon ends.
I tried not to get too much glare when taking the photos. But I’ll add this one. It really shows how “vinyl” the Designer Paper looks! I covered the pieces completely with the VersaMark pad, then poured on the clear emboss powder, and heated. This gives an all-over shine. Plus, it makes the backpack (and especially the flaps) a little more sturdy.
I put some candy in the main section, and a little note about how proud I am of her in the little pocket.
I’m really happy with how it all turned out!

Convention Displays

The first diplay I wanted to see was the Decor Elements one. Stampin’ Up! staff was there to teach us how to apply the vinyl decorations to walls. They even let everyone try it out. I was surprised at how easy it is to put the Decor Elements up.
And these are samples of Phase 2, the next set of vinyl artwork Stampin’ Up! is releasing. These will be available to purchase on Oct 1st. The boards they are displayed on are 7′-8′ feet tall. It was nice to see them IRL, because I hadn’t realized how big some of them actually were.
Next, I headed over to the Big Shot display.

I love these next displays! Stampin’ Up! set up four “rooms” and throughout the week, Stampin’ Up! staff decorated them. I took these photos on the last day, when they were all completed. They are decorated with Decor Elements, Big Shot images, and of course, stamps!
